Job Description
As a Deck Bar Tender, you will be responsible for providing excellent beverage service and creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for passengers on the deck of a cruise ship. Your expertise in mixology, friendly personality, and customer service skills will contribute to a memorable guest experience. Here are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:
1. Beverage Preparation and Service:
– Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests on the deck.
– Create and recommend signature cocktails and drinks, showcasing your mixology skills and creativity.
– Ensure the accuracy and consistency of drink recipes, following standard procedures and recipes.
– Provide prompt and attentive service, taking orders, processing payments, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area.
2. Guest Interaction and Service:
– Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming attitude, creating a positive and engaging atmosphere.
– Assist guests in choosing beverages, making recommendations based on their preferences and the menu offerings.
– Engage in conversation and build rapport with guests, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or special requests.
– Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, even in high-pressure situations.
3. Bar Setup and Maintenance:
– Set up the bar area prior to service, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and ingredients are available.
– Monitor inventory levels of beverages, garnishes, and other bar supplies, restocking as needed.
– Clean and sanitize bar equipment, glassware, and utensils in accordance with health and safety regulations.
– Assist in the inventory management and ordering of bar supplies to ensure efficient operations.
4. Knowledge of Beverages and Regulations:
– Stay up to date with current beverage trends, including new cocktails, spirits, and mixology techniques.
– Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the menu offerings, including ingredients, flavors, and pairings.
– Adhere to local and international regulations related to responsible alcohol service, age restrictions, and safety guidelines.
– Maintain awareness of guests’ alcohol consumption, recognizing and responding to any signs of intoxication or underage drinking.
5. Teamwork and Collaboration:
– Collaborate with other bar staff, waitstaff, and kitchen personnel to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
– Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, providing updates, feedback, and assistance as needed.
– Support a positive and cooperative work environment, fostering teamwork and professionalism.
Requirements:
– Previous experience as a bartender in a high-volume bar or hospitality setting.
– Strong knowledge of beverages, including cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer.
– Proficiency in mixology techniques and the ability to create innovative and appealing drink recipes.
– Excellent customer service and communication skills.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and handle pressure.
– Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and regulations.
– Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a cruise ship environment.
