Job Description

As a Trainee Engineer in the Engine section, your primary role is to assist the engineering team in the operation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment on board the vessel. You will work under the guidance and supervision of experienced engineers to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in marine engineering. Here is a detailed job description for the position of Trainee Engineer in the Engine section:

1. Assisting in Operation and Maintenance:
– Assist the engineering team in operating and monitoring machinery and equipment, such as engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
– Learn and follow operational procedures and safety protocols for the safe and efficient operation of the engine room.
– Participate in routine checks, inspections, and maintenance tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.
– Assist in the monitoring of equipment parameters, including temperatures, pressures, levels, and flow rates.

2. Repairs and Troubleshooting:
– Learn to identify and report faults or malfunctions in machinery and systems.
– Assist in carrying out repairs, replacements, or adjustments to faulty components or systems.
– Observe and learn troubleshooting techniques from experienced engineers to rectify equipment issues.
– Support the engineering team in conducting maintenance and repair activities as per established procedures.

3. Preventive Maintenance:
– Assist in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for machinery and equipment.
– Learn to conduct routine inspections, servicing, and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
– Follow instructions from senior engineers to perform lubrication, cleaning, and basic maintenance activities.
– Assist in keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, including servicing, repairs, and component replacements.

4. Safety and Compliance:

– Support the senior engineers in updating technical documentation, drawings, and manuals.

6. Training and Development:
– Actively participate in training programs provided on board to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
– Seek guidance and learning opportunities from senior engineers to develop competency in marine engineering.
– Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry best practices in marine engineering.

7. Collaboration and Communication:
– Collaborate effectively with other engineering personnel and departments to ensure smooth engine room operations.
