As an NCV/NWKO in the Deck department of a non-conventional vessel, your role is vital in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. You will be responsible for overseeing deck operations, navigation, and safety procedures specific to non-conventional vessels. Here is a detailed job description for the position of NCV/NWKO in the Deck section:

1. Navigation and Watchkeeping:
– Assume responsibility for the safe navigation of the non-conventional vessel, considering its unique characteristics and operational requirements.
– Plan and execute navigational routes, taking into account factors such as weather conditions, traffic, navigational aids, and specific limitations of the vessel.
– Maintain a vigilant lookout for navigational hazards and implement appropriate measures to ensure safe navigation.

2. Deck Operations and Equipment:
– Oversee and coordinate deck operations, including mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling specific to non-conventional vessels.
– Familiarize yourself with the specialized equipment and systems used on the vessel and ensure their proper operation and maintenance.
– Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient loading, stowage, and discharge of cargo while complying with safety regulations and procedures.

3. Safety and Emergency Response:
– Develop and enforce safety procedures and regulations tailored to the unique characteristics of the non-conventional vessel.
– Conduct safety drills and training sessions to familiarize the crew with emergency procedures specific to the vessel.
