Job Description
As a Cruise Bar Tender, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional beverage service to passengers onboard the cruise ship. Your expertise in mixology and customer service will create a memorable experience for guests. Here are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:
1. Beverage Preparation and Service:
– Prepare and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and soft drinks, following standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
– Provide recommendations to passengers based on their preferences and answer any questions they may have about the beverage menu.
– Ensure accuracy in measuring and pouring ingredients to maintain consistency and quality in beverage preparation.
– Adhere to responsible serving guidelines, verifying the age and sobriety of passengers when necessary.
– Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including the bar counter, glassware, and equipment.
2. Customer Service and Guest Engagement:
– Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere at the bar, engaging passengers in conversation, and providing personalized service.
– Anticipate guests’ needs, suggest appropriate beverage pairings, and ensure timely delivery of orders.
– Handle guest inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide exceptional customer service.
– Build rapport with passengers, establishing a positive and memorable experience during their cruise.
3. Inventory Management and Cost Control:
– Monitor stock levels of beverages, bar supplies, and ingredients, and place orders as needed to maintain inventory.
– Follow proper stock rotation procedures to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
– Implement effective cost control measures, such as portion control and minimizing over-pouring, to optimize profitability.
– Participate in regular inventory counts and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
4. Compliance with Safety and Regulations:
– Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of alcoholic beverages and adherence to food safety standards.
– Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the bar area, including regular sanitization of surfaces and equipment.
– Stay updated with local laws and regulations regarding responsible alcohol service and ensure compliance.
Requirements:
– Previous experience as a bartender in a high-volume bar or hospitality setting is preferred.
– Excellent knowledge of mixology, cocktail recipes, and beverage presentation.
– Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and interact with passengers of diverse backgrounds.
– Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
– Basic math skills for accurate measurement and cash handling.
– Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and legal drinking age requirements.
– Flexibility to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays as required in a cruise ship environment.
