Job Description

As a Cruise Chief Steward, you will oversee the housekeeping operations and ensure the highest level of cleanliness, comfort, and service for passengers onboard the cruise ship. Your leadership skills, attention to detail, and customer-oriented mindset will contribute to an exceptional guest experience. Here are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:

1. Housekeeping Management:
– Supervise and coordinate the activities of the housekeeping department, including cabin attendants, stewards, and laundry personnel.
– Assign duties and responsibilities to the housekeeping team, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
– Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards in passenger cabins, public areas, and crew accommodations.
– Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards.

2. Passenger Service:
– Ensure exceptional guest service by addressing passenger inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally.
– Coordinate special requests and accommodations, such as extra amenities, room changes, or special occasions.
– Maintain open lines of communication with passengers, seeking feedback and addressing any issues or complaints.

3. Inventory and Supplies Management:
– Oversee the inventory of linens, towels, toiletries, and other housekeeping supplies.
– Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the Provision Master to ensure an adequate supply of required items.
– Implement proper inventory control measures to minimize waste and optimize cost management.

4. Team Leadership and Training:
– Provide guidance, training, and support to the housekeeping team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
– Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff members are knowledgeable about cleanliness standards, safety procedures, and customer service protocols.
– Monitor and evaluate staff performance, recognizing achievements and addressing areas for improvement.

5. Safety and Compliance:
– Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
– Implement and enforce proper procedures for the handling, storage, and use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
– Conduct regular safety drills and trainings to ensure the readiness of the housekeeping team in emergency situations.

Requirements:
– Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in the hospitality industry, preferably in housekeeping or cruise ship operations.
– Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleanliness standards, and customer service principles.
– Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
– Attention to detail and a high level of cleanliness standards.
– Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
– Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations related to housekeeping operations.
– Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required in a cruise ship environment.
